The Slave Princess Chapter 51

Back to Chapter 50 - Check out the Web Mistress on OnlyFans

The weather was threatening to turn.  The storms heralding the change of season were on the horizon and they had to leave.

It had been several days since Engrid had been brought out of the Embassy and taken into custody.  Laun had not exactly relaxed, but she allowed herself to visit with people clamoring for her attentions.  She had eaten meals with nobles inside and outside the Palace.  She had walked the green strip around the Palace several times, being flirted with and seduced and allowing the men to think that they had broken down her defenses.  She had been in meetings alongside Falmir.  She had carved out time to talk with Lucas more in depth.

Laun was having several assignations a day and it was mentally tiring more than physically tiring.  Keeping things straight, remembering names.  Being fresh for the next person who wished her attentions.  She did not know how Mimi and the other red scarves did it.

Things were being packed up in the rooms.  Some of the jewels were being sent along, much to the chagrin of Laun.  Some of the dresses were put into travel bags, some into chests.  The chests were to go to the Sand Castle, the first of Laun’s presence there.  Erin had pulled Laun to the side and had asked to stay at the Sand Castle, to be it’s guardian until she could come back to it.  Laun had liked the idea and had asked Lucas to allow some of her stipend to go to the upkeep. »Read More

Three horses and three riders were at the gate of the Myrned Embassy.  The woman stepped forward but did not have to knock or pull on the rope beside the portal before it opened.

The people on the other side were not smiling, but they were not frowning, either.  There were bows and the guests were ushered in.  The late summer had not been kind to the trees within the walls of the Embassy, but the trees were still shading small plantings of the exotic flowers from the kingdom from the other side of the mountain range.

The yard was not desolate, but the envoy servants tried to bring the guests through as fast as they could.  The grand reception hall that was the center of the building seemed to go on for quite a ways, though if you were observant, you would have seen mirrors that helped with the illusion.

Ambassador Ouetal was waiting for the visitors.  He bowed to them and then offered his hand to the woman.  His eyes had already taken in the light tan colored dress and veil, unexpectedly plain, but set with her three pointed crown and some pearls and she seemed to outshine the brightest colored noble fashions he had recently seen.

“Princess, I am honored that you are here today.” »Read More

Laun did read for about an hour after she had been back at the suite in the royal wing.  It was very dry reading and her eyes started hurting and her mind would drift making her aware that she really wanted to be doing many other things.

She was laying on the same couch she had been on before, propped up with a few pillows behind her back and a pillow under her knees.  She laid the book down and let her head go back.  There was a lantern put on the table behind her and she closed her eyes to not be blinded by the bright flicker.

“Have you stuffed your head with that crap enough for tonight?”  Hunter had been trying to read alongside of her, but had changed to cleaning his boots after his brain had rebelled on the way the laws were phrased.

Laun nodded and raised her head again.  “I’ll start again tomorrow before I go over.  If Falmir doesn’t try to whisk me off to the Moon or something.”

The military baring of the man was still there as he put his cleaning things tidily together, stuffing them in one of the boots.  He stood and was at a loose attention as he offered his hand to her.  Laun smiled and closed the book. »Read More

There had been introductions.  There had been a little banter back and forth, all meaningless, but with meanings behind it.  There was a little confusion when the seating occurred as it seemed there were a few too many people for the table.  It was sorted out, Evan standing with the household servants as Gem sat between two of the Myrned envoys.

“I hope you like spicy foods, Highness.”  Ambassador Ouetal motioned to the plates being put on the table.  “This is a dish from Myrned that sometimes has foreigners drinking far too much water after a bite.”

Laun picked up a spoon and poked at the brown and orange food.  “I will try, sir.  I hope I do not disappoint you if I cannot finish it.”

He smiled across the table at her and took a bite of the food himself.  He made a ’not bad’ face and continued to eat.  Laun had her bite and waited.  There was a flush of heat and spice after a little bit and she made the mistake of breathing in at the wrong moment.

There was laughter from the Myrned people as Laun coughed and drank from her tankard.  “Milk works better, Highness.”  A slight rolling of his ‘r’ was the only indication that he grew up speaking another language. »Read More

Laun wished things would stay the same for at least a day before changing.

There were different curtains up in the main room, darker in color and thicker in fabric.  There were pillows and blankets and flowers and little knick-knacks that had been brought in.  A desk had been wedged in behind one of the couches, a small pile of messages and small boxes ignored next to a sheaf of clean writing paper.  A small stack of books was next to the desk, some of the bindings new, some quite old.

Laun saw all this as she was puling her jerkin off and heading for the bathing chamber.  That had been subtly changed, also.  There was a new bench that had stacks of loopcloth toweling.  There was a many-drawered chest next to the vanity and all the mess had been cleared, a few new pots of cosmetics lined up along the back.  The paper flowers were still in their basket.  Laun was happy about that as she sat on the ceramic privy and let her unhappy midsection empty it’s self.

“I told you the stew was bad.” »Read More

When Falmir had shown up as Laun had predicted, she had not considered that he had fully planned the day for her.  He ordered food and drink to be brought to her rooms, ate with her as she bathed and dressed her in what he picked out.  He made the others get up and clean up.  Falmir marched them through the Palace, only a few guards trailing behind.  He had the horses saddled and waiting at a side entrance, the morning drizzle not putting him off of his plans.

Laun had said that she had gotten lost in the Capitol City and he was going to show her the city so it would not happen again.

They had caused a bit of a ruckus as they went through the streets, some people recognizing the King and surging towards him, some recognizing him and moving away.  Silar, Gem and Evan surrounded Laun at one point as a tankard went past her head, stale mead spattering her leathers.

It was now several hours since they had stopped at an Inn called the Frightened Maid to have a noon meal.  The innkeeper had been honored, moreso when the gold plate came from Falmir’s pouch.  Laun saw how people looked at them, seeing the nobility, the crowns, not the people beneath them.  Laun had been able to stuff a few of the soggy rolls into her leather jerkin before Falmir had prodded them all out of the Inn and into the street again.  She was tearing parts off and eating while Falmir pointed out yet another landmark that he deemed important. »Read More

There was soft light in the room and soft footsteps on the wood.  Ifahyd opened his eyes and had to think for a moment where he was before he moved.

He rolled onto his back.  It was a good bed, but he missed his at the Estate.  He was not used to being surrounded by people, but it was strangely comforting listening to the sighs and snores around him.

He looked and saw Laun was gone from between Edgar and himself.  He looked and saw several figures moving in the room.  He had to prop himself up further to make sense of it.

Four figures.  Each with knives in their hands.  Moving together, a deadly dance between the beds.  They were all naked, two men, two women.  They made little noises as they moved, quiet focus sounds as they battled invisible foes. »Read More

Back to Chapter 43 - If you have read this far from the beginning of The Slave Warrior, I congratulate you!  If not, start at the beginning.

The door opened fully and those inside took a moment from what they were doing to look.

Gem was surrounded on one of the small beds, Verat another.  Laun nodded to both groups and dropped her robe on the way to the two level bed.  She turned and beckoned to Ifahyd.

He glanced, but did not see who was there.  The Rosemond King was after one prize that night. »Read More

Back to chapter 42 - The beginning of the Chronicles of the Midlands is in Chapter one of The Slave Warrior - Please consider Tribute for the Web Mistress

There were musicians behind a screen on the other side of the Gallery, the light flute and harp drifting down the stairs as the group walked up.  There were blue and grey clad servants scattered through the long hallway, many of them ducking behind the columns on either side to be less intrusive.  Voices could be heard punctuating the music, laughter blending with it.

There were soldiers.  Not just Midland soldiers.  Laun paused at the top of the stairs and signaled to those still behind her.  She heard peace bonds being loosened and at least one blade drawn.  Laun held tighter to Edgar’s hand and stepped forward again.

Rosemond and Midland soldiers saluted as Laun passed by, saluting again as her cousin passed a few paces behind her.  Dougal had insisted on having her enter first as she had been specifically invited.  She had offered her hand to him at the bottom of the stairs and he had bowed out, motioning Edgar to her side.

A laugh came to Laun that she recognized, perhaps.  And a voice she did not recognize at all talking to Falmir.  Laun hesitated a few steps before they would clear the column and see who was behind the privacy screens.  Edgar slowed and pulled her with him. »Read More

She was tired.  She was hungry.  She felt as though her mind had been passed through a fishing net, all the sanity clinging to the string, leaving her with the chaos and darkness.

There were still the people who wished to talk with her as she went back to her room.  She despised them.

The blue and grey servants were clustered in the hallway, trying to look indifferent to the world.  She saw right through them.

Laun went to the bedroom, leaving all doors she passed through open.  She went to the two level bed and looked at it.  It had not been made that day, the household servants staying outside, and the people inside the rooms having been distracted.  She cared, and yet she did not.  The skirt was off, the tunic was off.  She left the halter on and crawled into the bed, going to one side of the top level.

The men came in, many of them shucking off their boots and belts before crawling up into the bed around Laun.  She held her eyes closed, her hand over her face, as she lay under the thin blanket. »Read More
